Google Nest Hubs automatically reboot and/or install updates every night, but an emerging issue shows some smart assistant screens getting stuck or stuck on the “update” screen.
It looks like Google rolled out an update to the Nest Hub and Hub Max on Friday night. (Releasing a new version so close to a weekend is odd, and companies have done nothing in the past to avoid issues like this that teams can’t quickly fix the next day.)
99% of affected Nest Hub owners will see the “updating” screen with the message “Wait a minute, it will take a few minutes” and the device name in the lower right.
Some are glued to this screen for hours. Usually, when this happens, you can simply unplug the power cord and plug it back in (power cycle) to get the Nest Hub working again.
Not this time as curious about the Nest Hubs update news is back. This points to a deeper problem where contacting Google Support would be an appropriate next step Hopefully Google can move forward with a software fix for affected devices
