Its exclusivity Call of Duty One of the most controversial issues that arose after Microsoft bought Activision Blizzard. While Xbox owners have pointed out that this won’t happen, several official investigations, players and even Sony have some doubts about it. Now it has been revealed Phil Spencer directly assured Jim Ryan, CEO of SIE, that Call of Duty will be on their consoles for a few more years.
In a new statement to The Verge, Xbox head Phil Spencer revealed that earlier in the year, when Activision’s purchase of Blizzard was announced, he wrote a letter to Ryan, in which He promised that Call of Duty would be coming to PlayStation consoles for the next few yearsAlthough he did not give the exact date. This is what he commented:
“In January, we awarded Sony a signed contract to guarantee Call of Duty on PlayStation, with feature and content parity for at least a few years beyond Sony’s current contract, an offer that goes far beyond the typical PlayStation contract. Industry”.
While official information is still limited, previous reports have indicated that the deal between Activision and Sony ensures that at least the next two games will come to PlayStation, so we’re talking about 2024. however, Spencer’s recent revelation may well indicate that it extends beyond the earlier period mentioned.
In related matters, Phil Spencer talks about the progress of the purchase. Likewise, the UK launched a serious inquiry into the acquisition.
Editor’s note:
Although this can be seen as a positive message, it is also a bit strange that this information is published when various investigations continue to question previous Xbox statements and they do not doubt that Call of Duty will become exclusive. While Spencer’s new statement indicates that it won’t happen anytime soon, the possibility that it will happen in the future cannot be ruled out.
