It took me a few hours to really “get it”. Starenfeld, but now I prefer Bethesda’s bigger, more mainstream space RPGs. Between my adventures with the Constellation Exploration community and the entire team of settled systems awaiting my help, there are plenty of stories to discover. But narratively, it’s the real star of the show StarenfeldNew game mode plus. Some of its mechanics are annoying, but the way the main plot is handled makes it worth it.
[Warning: This article contains major spoilers for Starfield’s main quest and its conclusion.]
In my first playthrough, I spent dozens of hours in the Settled Systems area, becoming a Free Ranger and a UC Citizen, and hacking as a sideline. Finally I am A especially Moral character that will violate the law as a remedial measure. Sure, I’d enter a cargo restricted area to steal some supplies for a woman I met two minutes ago, but I didn’t pull the trigger on a truly terrible decision. I’ve stayed well within the “love villain” archetype.
At first, I found the constellation missions in the main story to be a sideshow to the team missions for all the other major factions in the game, such as the United Colony, the Freestar Collective, the Ryuzin Corporation, or the Crimson Fleet. Sure, you get awesome alien powers to track down artifacts and temples, but it feels like a lot of work – going to various remote areas and secret temples to complete isolated projects.
No one involved in this constellation’s mission has many answers, and the characters in the constellation repeat the same questions. You are being harassed by a group called Starborn and they refuse to give you much hard information. This mystery hangs ominously over the narrative for the rest of the game. Are they born aliens? Angel? Who do you know!

Eventually you will find answers that lead you to the Oneness, the heart of the universe – and the gateway there the end the universe This is where a new bonus game comes into play. After finishing the final battles and knowing how to implement all your decisions, you can go to the light and start in a new world – same story, same location, but new save. Thanks to this trip, I’m now a Starborn member and can keep my talents, cool ships, and cool gear.
In the new Plus game, I can go to the Lodge, a new version of Constellation headquarters, and skip the main quest by choosing a dialogue option that lets me spoil everything for the rest of society. i am can Play along and go through the main plot again, but where’s the fun in that when I can join a group of colleagues from another dimension and explain the purpose of their lives like it’s no big deal? I’m okay with such a nasty dunk.
What’s even more interesting is that after several iterations of the new game, you can even start to find some of them not normal Alternative information. As is usually the case with alternate universes, some of these possibilities involve evil versions of constellation members — including, so far, an alternate version of you. the end galaxy.
Descriptively speaking, New Game Plus is an almost complete reset. Not only did I lose my inventory, but all of my outposts, custom ships, rare loot, and quest progress were gone. He returned to the previous galaxy. This is not affected by innovation, as all quests, quests and crafting are reassigned accordingly.
Mechanically, I think the New Game Plus (and plus plus, plus plus plus…) is a bit lacking. I had to lose a lot of energy to get in; Talent points are great, but I miss my old ships, loot, and old randomly generated outposts It’s not all bad. You get to keep your new, fun Starborn ship and all the skills you picked up on your first playthrough are good to go. Each new add-on also includes Starborn rewards, and I can significantly improve my temple skills by traveling through Unity.
The Starborn item is strong, but I wish the 600,000 points I earned were still there. I’m hesitant to really invest the time to play with the building elements of the game. I guess I’m waiting for the “perfect” lap where I’m finally happy with the stability. It would be nice if the new game was more generous with what you can bring with you so that my favorite sewing item can survive the journey. Also a new game that is also having problems with expansion; Even on hard difficulty levels, my talent allows me to overcome resistance with ease, even when using the humble Frontier instead of my fancy ship, the Starborn.
Since there’s no big fight, it’s up to players to find their own fun challenges in the new bonus game. Some people may choose to purge stable systems from the Crimson Fleet, while others may try to gather the maximum donations possible and then run into units to avoid the consequences. These new rounds, with the main mission now skippable, capture the fantasy of alien life much more than my first playthrough. I feel free to explore the fantasy of a space trucker or ruthless pirate.
We’ll see if Bethesda ends up modding the new game, and I’m sure the modding community will make some changes at some point as well. For now, I think Starenfeld It handles the concept of multiverse quite elegantly by tying in an additional new game. Mechanically, I hope I had a bit more of a jump-start than my last outing, but narratively I’m looking forward to continuing to explore the rest of the game from a Starborn perspective.
