2024 will start in a great way MexicoSince our country’s first space mission will be on January 8, where a series of micro robots built by the National Autonomous University of Mexico will be taken to the moon (UNAM).
According to the Ministry of Infrastructure, Communications and Transport (SICT) through the Mexican Space Agency, it has been confirmed that everything is ready for the implementation of the “Calmena” project. The mission will take off from Cape Canaveral, Florida, USA, and will reach the lunar surface. AEM General Director Salvador Landros Ayala commented:
“This project will make history and is the first in Latin America, raising the name of our country, once again confirming that Mexican engineering is at the best level in the world.”
The “Hive” project is expected to launch on January 8, 2024 aboard a ULA Vulcan-Centaur rocket. However, it hasn’t been a completely smooth ride. The project went through various complicationsThe Hive-carrying astrobotic ‘Peregrine Lunar Lander’ ship between them required an almost complete redesign due to changes in the launcher rocket.
Supported with a telecommunication module, These microbots will aim to land on the lunar surface, connect electronically and assemble a panel that can generate power.. We can only wait and see what happens in this case. In a related matter, Mexican deputies want to promote national development in space.
Editor’s note:
Undoubtedly, a historic moment for the country. For many, the idea of traveling to space is something unattainable, but thanks to projects like “Kolmena” it stopped being a dream and became a possible reality. It would serve as an inspiration to a whole generation of Mexicans.
