Ragnarök’s prophecy has changed all kingdoms, and with it, we are excited to announce some new accessibility features that will be available to Ragnarök, the god of war.
We’ve redesigned our UI not only for more flexibility and readability, but We’ve rebuilt controller remapping from the ground up and added more customization to our combat and interaction systems. We’ve captured all of our accessibility features from God of War 2018 and expanded on them to include more than 60 ways to adjust the gameplay to suit your style and needs.
Here is a selection of some new and notable features.
God of War (2018) PC Features – God of War has added Ragnarök
For God of War (2018) on PC, we’ve made sure to keep improving and revisiting popular features since the initial PlayStation release. We’re glad to support these features in God of War Ragnarök on PS4 and PS5:
Sprint Auto Sprint: You will sprint while holding the stick and stop when you let go. When Auto Sprint is active, you can start sprinting by pressing the stick to move forward for a short time. The time required to set up Auto Sprint is configurable by you.
Fixed point (always on reticle): If you need extra focal points to reduce motion sickness, or want an endless reminder of the center of the screen, we offer the ability to turn a focal point into three different sizes and seven different colors.
Target style: You can choose to hold the target position or use toggle on / off.
Block style: You can choose to use the hold position or toggle on / off position of the slope.

Improving subtitles and captions
We’ve invested heavily in improving our subtitles and caption systems for more customization and information.
Subtitle and caption size: We’ve increased our minimum text size and added new scaling. It has extra-large text size to make subtitles and captions more readable. We’ve also dedicated a larger reading area to match TV and movie subtitle standards.
Subtitles and caption colors: You can adjust the speaker name, subtitle body and caption color individually. You can choose from seven different colors.

Speaker name (Options retained from 2018): Like God of War (2018), you can show or hide the speaker’s name. You can set this size independently of the UI text size.
Caption: With expanded sound effects captions, we’ve added several new ways to understand words within the game. We’ve added captions to both cinematics and gameplay for a richer understanding of the world’s soundscape. You can enable captions for critical gameplay information to help you understand puzzles and narratives.

Subtitles and Caption Background Blur: We’ve included options to allow the background behind subtitles and captions to be blurred to make them more readable in complex scenes.
Subtitle background (Options retained from 2018): In addition to blurring, we’ve included options to darken the background behind the subtitles for better readability on ice. High contrast backing includes multiple opacity settings for you to choose from.

Directions: Critical gameplay sound now has an optional direction indicator that shows which direction a word is coming from. To help with puzzles that contain sound signals, this indicator will help you toward an important word source.
Text size / icon size
The highly requested feature from God of War (2018) is back and better than ever! You wanted a comfortable reading experience while playing from the sofa, so we listened. A fully redesigned and responsive UI, and a large minimum text size that can scale significantly, reading on-screen text is easier than ever.
See our default and XX-large game wide UI text scaling here for reference.
Top: Default UI text size, bottom: XX-Large UI text size
We have two examples for sharing in-game icon scaling from the smallest and largest options available to choose from.
Left: Small UI icon size, Right: X – Large UI icon size 6
Controller remapping
We’ve redesigned our controller remapping system so you can customize your button configurations to God of War Ragnarök. There will be a wide range of preset layouts as well as custom controller remapping support. Individual buttons can be switched, and to select complex actions, you can choose an alternative configuration from a preset list.
We offer you multiple ways to customize your experience for some activities that require multiple buttons, including touchpad shortcuts for things like Spartan Rage, Navigation Assist and Quick Turn.
High contrast mode
Our new high contrast color-mode allows you to apply a color to object-in-games such as targets, enemies and other characters in addition to a variety of items. When enabled, it will apply a color layer to the characters which will make them more visible in the background. You can optionally deselect the background to further enhance the contrast. Traversal paints, loot items and special effects can also be made more visible in this mode.
High Contrast Activation Customization: Select off, on or always on for gameplay only (this will exclude cinematics). High contrast mode can be set to toggle on and off from a swipe for easy access. This mode will be disabled automatically when in the settings menu or in the characters menu.
High contrast color customization: Choose a color palette that suits your playstyle and adjust individual colors for characters, enemies, and items.
High Contrast Background Customization: Select the mid-tone or dark background contrast level separately.
Navigation assistance: New to the God of War, this camera navigation system lets you point your gaze at your compass objectives. When not in battle, pressing the help button will direct your vision toward the next story.
Traversal assistance: Gap jumping, vaulting, mantling and other traversal features can now be automated based on which direction you press.
Help +: Adds interaction-based moves like climb, crawl and squeeze-through.
Audio signal: We’ve linked a sound queue to each on-screen interaction prompt, so that when you use this feature, you can hear when an interaction icon is nearby, as well as when the button prompt is enabled.
Audio signals extend to non-unblocking attack rings, targeting target signals, and weapon exchange signals, as well as additional combat indications. The volume of the audio signal can be adjusted separately from other volume sliders, so you can adjust it for your own comfort.
