Google announced that the Home Panel would be coming to Pixel phones with a feature drop in June, and now it’s getting bigger with an update to the Google Home app.
Version 3.3 of the Google Home app is rolling out nationwide today via Play Storeand activates the new Home panel, which is basically your existing Favorites tab for continuity.
In the past, when controlling Android devices, you had to display which smart home tiles and set their order. This feature returned in Android 11 when it was part of the Power menu.
The main panel starts with a series of rooms for cameras, lighting, air conditioning and WiFi. It is followed by a network of devices with camera feed, automation and other actions.
Accessed via the home icon in the bottom left corner of the lock screen or via the home panel in quick settings. When accessing sensitive devices and controls, you will be prompted to unlock them
The home panel first appeared on the Pixel tablet, but didn’t come to the Pixel Fold and other Google phones running Android 13 QPR3 until this app update rolled out last week.
We see this on the Pixel 7 and 6 Pro running Google Home 3.3.
Update: Home panel now appears in Android 14 after a server-side update (try restarting your device).
