Realme has a phone addiction. It’s time to dump her and move on. The release of the Realme GT Neo 3T shows just how bad things have become. While this is a totally acceptable phone, it has no place of its own in Realme’s range, it rarely makes sense compared to other models and does not bring anything new to the table.
Why does the GT Neo 3T exist?
I’ve been using Realme GT Neo 3T for a few days now, and if you ask me what’s the difference, GT Neo 3, GT Neo 2, GT 2, GT 2 Pro, even Realme 9 Pro +, I would pause, say wrong, and then change the subject. I couldn’t tell you without looking at the spec sheet or just mentioning the different colors and finishes.
Even then, I have to think a little. Who had a muscle car paint job? Or did it feel a bit like paper? Oh, and remind me, how was the GT Neo 2 again? I’m not even sure if I’ve used GT 2. Even knowing which phone would not help keep the GT Neo 3T in range. Why? It’s almost like the GT Neo 2, which was released in September last year. It has the same screen, processor, RAM options, camera and battery.
The big difference? The GT Neo 3T has 80-watt fast charging instead of 65W. I charged using the Realme GT Neo 2’s 65W charger, and after 12 minutes, it reached 33% (and fully charged in 38 minutes). The 80W charging of the GT Neo 3T takes 12 minutes to reach 48% and is fully charged in 36 minutes. Sorry, Realme, this is not enough reason to relaunch the same phone. Also, if you want a little faster 80W charging, the non-T Realme GT Neo 3 All right.
No sense in telling you now – I don’t wanna ruin the suprise. They all use Android 12 (after an update for Neo 2) and Realm 3.0, which look very much like Oppo’s ColorOS and very close to OnePlus’s OxygenOS. Even admittedly great racing finishes are variations of the same theme. The Realme GT Neo 3T exists, but I don’t really understand why.
The GT Neo 3 makes things worse
Not enough evidence of addiction? We’re not done yet. If we have already established that the new GT Neo 3T is totally different from the GT Neo 2 released at the end of 2021, what about the GT Neo 3? Borrowing the term “T” from OnePlus, you might think it’s an updated version of the GT Neo 3, but it’s not. This is a strange side step.
The GT Neo 3 was released in March and has the same size screen, the Neo 3T has a MediaTek 8100 processor with the same functionality as the Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 and the GT Neo 2 has a 50-megapixel camera instead of a 64MP camera. And GT Neo 3T. It’s a few grams lighter and a bit thinner (at most 0.5mm, so you don’t actually notice), and the cameras are organized in a slightly different way in the camera module. However, the modules are the same size and shape, and in the same position of the body.
The funny thing about the GT Neo 3 is that Realme couldn’t help but create a second, virtually identical version. There is a GT Neo 3 with an 80W charging and another with a new 150W fast charging system. That’s it. Two phones that Exactly the same, With a different charger in the box. Then, if these two versions are not enough, the GT Neo 3 is based on the stunning Naruto special edition with 150W charger.
Realme has different smartphones for different regions. But the GT Neo 3 and Neo 3T are launching in Europe, and many of its GT phones, the Neo or otherwise, will be available in India. This is in India where Realme doesn’t even try to hide its addiction. Indian buyers also get the range of Narzo models (similar to the light versions of the GT and GT Neo models), as well as the Realme 9, Realme 8, Realme 5, Realme C and Realme X ranges. I counted 40 phones on its website and 15 belong to the Narzo and GT series. Yet I don’t know how you would start to pick, or really why you would buy one on top of the other.
Lack of focus hurts the brand
Like Samsung, Realme is adopting the “every price point cover” approach to making smartphones. The original models mentioned here range in price from around $ 500 for the GT Neo 3T to $ 650 for the GT Neo 3, and around $ 800 for the GT 2 Pro. Just looking at the price makes the range a bit more understandable, but then remember that Realme has the price of these three models and dozens of other phones around it, all with different names and only slightly different spaces.
The sadness and depth of Realme’s phone addiction is unfortunate, because under many modifications and fake upgrades, it has a very strong core lineup of phones. Realme GT 2 Pro Excellent, GT Neo 3 real progress thinking with 150W charging, and GT Neo 2 from 2021 still has plenty of life left at a reasonable price. Throwing meaningless T versions, master versions and much more on the wall only dilutes the range and confuses people.
We are hopeful that once sitting in front of the concerned friends and handing over both GT Neo 3T and GT Neo 2, Realme will suddenly get the moment of realization, and will produce the same phone twice in less than a year. No sense. Understanding the problem is the first step towards a clear future for Realme’s product range.
