Others expressed excitement that a game like Hi-Fi Rush could get a second chance, and the millions of other players who could help make the case for a sequel.
The rumor comes just two months after Xbox CFO Tim Stewart said Microsoft wanted to bring first-party games to “every screen that can run games,” including rival consoles.
“It’s kind of a change in strategy,” Stewart said at the Wells Fargo TMT Summit in November. “We haven’t announced anything detailed here, but our goal is to provide our first-party experience [and] Our subscription services allow games to be played on any screen. “It means smart TVs, it means handheld devices, it means what we used to consider competitors like PlayStation and Nintendo.”
Stewart’s comments were seen as confirmation of Microsoft’s intention to bring Game Pass to competing consoles, but Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer later denied such plans.
However, this leaves the door open for Microsoft to release more first-party games on rival consoles. Hi-Fi Rush releases on January 25, 2023 Could this set a precedent for Xbox games to expand to other platforms a year after release?
It should be noted that Microsoft has already released its games on non-Xbox platforms. Minecraft is certainly available on almost every platform. Bethesda games The Elder Scrolls Online and Fallout 76 released and updated on PlayStation. Double Fines Psychonauts 2 was released in August 2021 for PlayStation 4, Windows, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
It’s also worth noting that Microsoft has a long list of exclusive games slated for release this year and beyond, including Obsidian’s Avoid, Ninja Theory’s Hellblade 2, and Playground’s Fable. There is no indication that these exclusive games will appear on both PlayStation and Xbox
