Google still doesn’t use the highest level when it comes to fingerprint sensors. The disadvantages are especially noticeable compared to flagship smartphones like the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra. Pixel 8 may finally overcome this difficulty.
With the Samsung Galaxy S22 you really only have to tap your finger on the display, the Pixel 7 series also needs to be properly placed. Although the new sensor is much faster than the Pixel 6, it’s still too slow for a true flagship phone.
It is known that Google is currently testing a slightly modified Pixel 7 Pro and the source code hints at an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor. Which not only gives us hope that Google will use a new sensor for the Pixel 8 series (autumn 2023), which is more expensive but up-to-date.
