Best screen on the market, but Samsung beats others when it comes to camera.
With the Galaxy S24 Ultra, Samsung can once again only deliver a camera that meets the high demands, but not enough for the top shelf. This impression has now been confirmed by the famous DXOMARK, where they tested the camera and of course the screen. Samsung finds itself in the midst of ups and downs.
Let’s start with its display, which achieved a score of 155, putting it at the top. You may not be there all year, but initially Samsung’s new top model is the best Android smartphone when it hits the screen. The new peak brightness will be particularly noticeable; Samsung’s picture quality is always good.
This is good about the display:
- Good readability in sunlight thanks to very high peak brightness.
- Improved management of screen reflection thanks to advanced glass technology.
- Accurate color reproduction in most lighting environments.
- Excellent image contrast management while watching all types of videos or playing video games.
It’s bad about showing:
- The brightness level of the video performance is very high.
- Interior lighting lacks brightness and detail in the environment.
- Poor handling of unintentional touch.
The camera almost suffered a disaster
It has long been clear that Samsung will not be able to reach the top with its main camera without a completely new camera sensor. It is placed 18th in the overall ranking and has 144 points enough. The predecessor, the Galaxy S23 Ultra, scored 140 points. If we look at the good and bad points, we see that the negative list is much longer. Ouch!
This is good about the camera:
- Bright and comfortable brightness in all conditions for photos and videos when viewed on the HDR display.
- Accurate target exposure in photos even in low light.
- Neutral white balance and accurate color reproduction in most test situations for photos, zooms and videos.
- Good level of detail in bright light.
- Well-controlled noise in bright light for photos and videos.
- Effective video stabilization.
This is bad about the camera:
- Noise, especially in shadow areas and corners of picture frames.
- Noise in low light video.
- A shallow depth of field results in blurred background subjects in group shots.
- Noticeable delay between pressing the shutter button and shooting under various test conditions.
- Exposure and white balance instability in photos and videos.
- Video focus response is slow.
- Loss of fine detail in low light.
