A few days ago we had headlines that a new camera smartphone would launch this spring, which would take smartphone cameras to a new level. Now Oppo has made its Find X7 Ultra official, which German customers will unfortunately have to import from neighboring countries if they really want it.
Among many other cool things, the special feature is definitely the rear camera setup. Oppo installs a total of four 50MP image sensors. Two of them are responsible for zoom (3x and 6x) and these two cameras are actually equipped with a periscope each. Oppo will probably offer the best smartphone zoom of the year.
The zoom range is from 14mm to 270mm
New Sony image sensors are used for the main camera and ultra-wide angle; For example, the 1-inch LYT-900 is used for the main camera. The LYT-600 is used for ultra wide angle, as well as ultra wide angle and macro. There is a second macro option for telemacro via one of the two zoom cameras.
Of course, there is the question of whether the camera package is “necessary” at all. Probably not and yet Oppo will find many buyers. So far, in our opinion, no other phone has two Periscope cameras. But at least manufacturers like Samsung will improve their zoom.
What is exciting about the new Oppo smartphone in my opinion is that the focus is primarily on quality and not on 100x or 200x zoom. Instead, they want to be able to offer the highest quality focal lengths that are reasonably usable for everyday use. Periscope with optical image stabilization can certainly guarantee this.
