Although the Dynasty Warriors franchise is known for its Electrification 1 vs. 1,000 Musu action, Dynasty Warriors 9 adds some more tactical and tactical elements to the Empire gameplay, forcing gamers to not only fight their enemies, but advance beyond them on the battlefield. And when the full game launches on February 15, the free demo is now available for everyone to download on both the PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4!
I’m excited for fans of the West to finally get a chance to play Empire and to feel the thrill of the evolutionary castle blockade we added to the gameplay. We’ve been working hard on this title for the last few years, so to make sure everyone gets the most out of the demo, I’d like to take the time to break down what you can expect, as well as give some quick battle tips to help your training. .
The demo features offensive combat, where you must capture enemy castles, and defensive combat, where you must defend your castle from invaders. Keep in mind, however, that in this demo, Castle Siege is set to a higher difficulty level than the final version of the game (where you can set the difficulty to your liking), so there is of course a learning curve, whether you are carrying it on the offensive or defensive side of the attack. Don’t worry though, we’ve included tutorials throughout the demo to help you capture every virtual world with new features as quickly as possible.
Speaking of warriors, demo stages can be played with familiar officers from the Dynasty Warriors series or custom officers created by you! Edit mode, a key part of Empire entries, will allow you to create your own officer, with a wide range of in-depth customization options available. The custom officers created in this demo can be taken throughout the game during the launch, so I hope you enjoy creating the characters of your dreams and taking them into battle. Whether you’re a historical figure, a celebrity, or even creating yourself, I’m certainly excited to see what the community brings up and can’t wait for everyone to share pictures of their favorite officers on social media.
But before you storm Twitter with pictures, it’s time to storm the battlefield! To help with your first attack, check out these helpful tips.
Greatness Catapult
Catapult bases will be set up across the battlefield and it is important to occupy these positions as soon as possible. These bases will automatically attack other enemy bases on the map, so prioritizing their acquisition will give you an advantage in defeating opposing forces.
Ability to lead
Make the most of your battle comrades and secret planning powers. Going to an associate officer on the battlefield and selecting a companion command from the D-pad will replace your military unit with an assistant officer. They will be equipped with their own secret plans that you can take advantage of, such as Range Incinerate Attack (Fire!) Or Make Camp Ability (which restores health). When fighting enemy officers, be sure to use a concomitant unit with convenient Army affinity to keep the odds in your favor. Each unit has its own strengths and weaknesses (infantry> cavalry> archers> infantry), so be sure to keep this in mind.
Fight wisely, not hard
I know it might sound silly to say that, but some people just need to hear it: try not to attack enemy bases with a high concentration of enemy forces! Not only will it take longer to capture the area, it will also negatively affect other war situations as allied bases may be crushed behind your back. Instead, focus on invading areas with weak enemy military power and gaining more control of the battlefield. This will help you to reverse the war situation, which is the key to victory.
Charge!
Make the most of trigger attacks and guard counters. Trigger attacks allow you to send even the most powerful enemies into the air and charging these attacks will greatly increase their power. When defending against an attack, a responsive attack marker will appear, allowing you to make a guard counter. Doing so will greatly reduce the enemy’s brake gauge. Charging the trigger attack and using the guard counter will be more effective than repeatedly pressing the attack button.
So there you have it. Take a storm in the castle and see what you are made of. These tips, along with in-game tutorials, will give you all you need to become a strong force on the battlefield. Remember, in Empire, it’s not just a matter of speeding with the sword, because in the end you have to apply the right tactics to succeed (although it never hurts to have a quick sword). This combination of power and mind is where you will find your place as a real ruler of the land.
