Tokina Cinema Vista 65mm T1.5 lens has just been announced and released. It expands the Cinema Vista line of prime lenses and matches them in terms of 46.7mm image circle (for large formats), dimensions, 114mm front diameter, and look. The lens will be available for around $7,499 USD.
It seems that the traditional 35mm, 50mm, and 85mm primes do not cover everyone’s needs when it comes to “medium” focal lengths. Back in November 2020, Tokina Cinema already expanded its flagship Cinema Vista line of prime lenses with the 40mm T1.5. Now, the lineup gets yet another “in-between” focal length. Say hello to the Tokina Cinema Vista 65mm T1.5!

The new short telephoto lens should fill the notable jump between 50mm and 85mm lenses. Because it complements the existing lenses in the Tokina Cinema Vista line, it has been designed to retain the same features and specs. The lens produces an image circle of 46.7mm which is enough to cover any large camera sensor even beyond Vista Vision.
The complete Tokina Cinema Vista T1.5 Primes lineup now consists of 18mm, 25mm, 35mm, 40mm, 50mm, 65mm, 85mm, 105mm, and 135mm lenses.
When it comes to optical structure, the Tokina Cinema Vista 65mm T1.5 lens has 13 groups with 14 elements. The iris has 9 blades to ensure the roundness of the aperture and it is available between T1.5 and T22. According to Tokina, lens distortion and chromatic aberration are well-controlled, with minimal focus breathing, soft pleasing flare, and gentle roll-off from subject to background. You can judge the look and optical quality of the lens yourself. Phil Holland shot a quick test with the new lens (as well as the 40mm T1.5) on the RED Monstro 8K VV.
To seamlessly complement the lineup, the Tokina Cinema Vista 65mm T1.5 maintains the form factor of the other Vista primes, sharing a common 114mm front diameter and a similar weight at approximately 2.29kg (5.05lbs). It is available in interchangeable ARRI PL, EF, MFT, Sony E, and ARRI LPL mounts.
