Venus Optics has announced its bringing its Laowa 85mm F5.6 2x Ultra Macro APO lens to L-mount camera systems.
Until now, the fully-manual 85mm F5.6 2x macro lens was limited to other full-frame mirrorless mounts, including Canon RF, Nikon Z and Sony E mounts. Now, full-frame and APS-C L-mount users can join in on the fun. The lens is constructed of 13 elements in nine groups, including three extra-low dispersion elements.
Below is a sample gallery of images captured with this lens (although not the L-mount version):
It features a seven-blade aperture diaphragm, has an aperture range of F5.6 through F22, uses a 46mm front filter thread and has a minimum focusing distance of 16.3cm (6.4 ”). The Leica L mount version measures 53mm (2 ”) in diameter and 81mm (3.2”) long, weighing in at 259g (9.1oz).
The Laowa 85mm F5.6 2x Ultra Macro APO lens for L-mount cameras is currently available to purchase through Venus Optics’ online store for 449. The lens comes with front and rear lens caps as well as a cloth carrying case.
It says Olympus on the front, but the OM System OM-1 is about the future, not the past. It may still produce 20MP files, but a quad-pixel AF Stacked CMOS sensor, 50 fps shooting with full AF and genuine, IP rated weather sealing show OM Digital Solutions’ ambition.
