Use the smartphone even if no mobile radio or WLAN is available. It can be done by satellite, but not yet everywhere and above the Android world. For European customers, Telecom successfully started the Test run with Google Pixel 9.
In Greece, an SMS was sent and a Google Pixel was obtained at a Google Pixel 9 through a Geo satellite for this test. For the first time, this technology was displayed on commercially available smartphones in Europe. At the end of 2025, the feature will be given commercially in Europe.

Focus is certainly towards emergency communication. Either in remote areas, or in any disaster. More smartphones will support the “SOS Satellite” (integrated in Android) in the coming years.
