(Pocket-Lint) – Facebook offers a payment system called Facebook Pay, which lets you send money to friends, buy products and even donate.
What is Facebook Pay?
Facebook Pay is designed to facilitate payments across Facebook, Messenger, Instagram, and WhatsApp. Facebook says it is part of an ongoing effort to make the business more convenient, accessible and secure for its users.
Facebook Pay was initially made available for fundraisers, in-person payments, ticket purchases, in-game purchases, and some purchases from pages and businesses in Facebook’s Marketplace. Now it’s fully integrated with Instagram and Messenger in supported countries, and WhatsApp support is starting to roll out.
According to Facebook, the service, which differs from Facebook’s Calibra and Libra efforts, is “built on existing financial infrastructure and partnerships”. It uses Stripe, PayPal and other processors to handle payments.
How does Facebook Pay work?
Facebook Pay is designed to be as simple as possible, so no additional apps are needed to get started, you can use Facebook Pay directly in the app you want to use.
You can access Facebook Pay in the settings section of the Facebook, Messenger and Instagram apps. Once you’ve added a payment method, you can easily send money to friends, make a purchase or donate to a cause.
