Update from August 25 below. This post was first published on August 23, 2023.
It won’t be long before Apple announces its latest iPhone, but a new report claims that one of the four phones, the iPhone 15 Pro Max, will face delays.
What changes?
First, this is the only thing that looks different. I’m sure the special Apple event where these products will see the light of day will be via a pre-recorded keynote on Tuesday, September 12 at 10am PST. I believe it will be shown to press and guests at the Steve Jobs Theater in Apple Park, Cupertino, and streamed online.
Another date Apple will announce is the special event next week, possibly Wednesday August 30th or Thursday August 31st.
No, what changes next? Four new iPhones (including two new Apple Watches) will be introduced at the Apple keynote. The iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, and iPhone 15 Pro go on sale on Friday, September 22. Pre-orders will start weeks in advance, likely from Friday 15 September.
But the iPhone 15 Pro Max seems to be delayed. accordingly 9 to 5 Mac, who learned from “a note from a senior equity analyst” that there will be an exclusive component shortage for the iPhone 15 Pro Max, meaning it won’t arrive until mid-October. All four phones will be launched at the same time and Apple likely has some stock so no other sales date will be announced for the Pro Max.
When customers come to place orders for Max, they quickly realize that shipping dates are in October.
Why late?
The reason for the delay is a Sony component, an image sensor that will not be present in the iPhone 15 Pro. The iPhone 15 Pro Max is believed to have a periscope camera for the telephoto lens. You know, a periscope camera that doesn’t just pop up and down from the camera body, but how fun would that be? Instead, mirrors are used to reflect light towards the body of the phone, increasing the focal length. This means the equivalent magnification power of the telephoto lens is three times higher than current iPhone Pro devices.
This isn’t the first time the Pro and Pro Max phones have stood out, and camera differences between iPhone phones aren’t new. They define Max as the most powerful and biggest and most expensive iPhone.
So when will he come?
Any undue delay. Analyst notes indicate that the iPhone 15 Pro Max will experience a delay of three to four weeks, resulting in it hitting stores on Friday, October 6th or Friday, October 13th. In that case, I think it’s likely that Apple will announce a separate launch date for the Max at the keynote.
Updated on August 24th. The impact Apple has on our lives this time of year is that speculation is no longer focused on the day the phones go on sale (after all, timing is of the essence), or even the date of the special event that tells us exactly what the new iPhones and Apple Watches will be.
No, the new focus is when Apple sends invitations to private events. That’s right, the focus is on the day Apple announces something that will go on sale later.
Jack’s is revealed 9 to 5 Mac It has just been assessed when this special event will be announced. In a way, this seems to confirm the dates we thought we knew: Tuesday September 12th for the special event and Friday September 22nd for the phones going on sale. Hall suggests that the announcement could come on one of four dates, August 29, 30, 31 and September 5. As you saw above, I already said that two dates in August were possible, but I agree. It may be worth considering attending on Tuesday 29th August.
I have to say now that I think the September date is too far to be suitable for advertising. Apple likes to release its news before the start of the big electronics fair in Berlin, IFA, so August is better than September.
I’m now leaning towards Tuesday August 29th or Wednesday August 30th as the most likely days (so please mark your calendars), though it always depends on internal feedback from a company I’ve been following for decades. Apple says nothing. Check back – I’ll update this post when we hear more.
Updated on August 25th. The controversy surrounding this year’s iPhone launch continues and now a trusted and respected leaker has joined the fray. on Twitter, Majin Bu He just commented on the date and I am happy that it should be announced on Tuesday 12 September.
A source told Leaker that an NPI from Apple is imminent as the NPI appears to be related to a new product launch. The source gives Tuesday as the day and “all day” as the time. The full text of the tweet read: “According to a source who asked not to be identified, the Apple event will take place on September 12. I can’t be 100% sure about this information, but here is the screenshot. NPI = New Product Introduction.
In fact, in another screenshot provided by Majin Bu, the time is from 12:00 PM to 11:59 PM. Now, I’ve had some very long keynotes for Apple, but 23 hours and 59 minutes probably got me going. Rather, it must refer only to the day without going into the exact time of the event.
The source is scant on detail and only says “Apple annual NPI with new devices for this year.” Aside from apostrophes and a basic knowledge of English grammar, there’s not much to learn here beyond the story.
Well, after all, that’s what we care about, so it’s not bad. And while leaks from different sources pointing in the same direction aren’t always proof that something is true, the fact that someone as prominent as Majin Buu promoted it is an indicator.
They say, “I’m not 100% sure about this information,” so here’s a pinch of salt to spice things up, but the fact that it was tweeted gives it weight.
Also, let’s note that other sources refer to the same date. And for what it’s worth, I think it must be history. Anyone hoping for an announcement next Tuesday or Wednesday is sorry, though the ship has certainly sailed. We now know if Apple will hold an event during the week of August 28th. The company always announces at least a week in advance. No, I think the only question is when Apple will confirm on September 12.
