The recent renaming of Facebook to Meta has opened the door to speculation about the next step in online connectivity, with many businesses, investors and technology enthusiasts eager to embrace the impending change and start buying and selling new ideas and concepts on a theoretical basis. Metaverse, which will eventually facilitate all new types of connections.
But that’s the problem – at the moment, Metaverse is a theoretical concept, even Meta has repeatedly said that it will. It takes years to become a reality. No one still knows exactly what Metaverse will be, and while some are envisioning a new era of digital connectivity that puts more power in the hands of users, others point out that computing power alone is needed to support this next step. So significant, that really, only the major players would be equipped to host this completely new stage.
Still, the Metavers discussion is already evolving, and as more and more people become more aware of this concept, there are many thoughts and concerns about what the next phase of the connection will bring.
From which this new infographic focus NordVPN. The company surveyed 1,000 consumers to gain insights into how people feel about the Metavers shift and what they know about the concept.
The most interesting note? Although 87% of people are concerned about how Metavers can affect their privacy, 74% will join or at least consider joining Metaverse.
While privacy remains a key concern, it is interesting to note that utilities always take precedence.
