Given the promise made by Xiaomi, a top spot was actually expected.
Huawei confirms that it now works without collaboration with Leica or similar. Once again, the Chinese company tops DXOMARK’s camera rankings and can’t beat Xiaomi. In contrast, the Xiaomi 14 Ultra is far ahead. Or rather: backlog.
With a shared 13th place, it is behind Honor Magic 5 Pro, Google Pixel 8 Pro, Apple iPhone 15 Pro, Oppo Find X7 Ultra and various Huawei smartphones. At the price range, it may not be a satisfactory result.
This is good about the camera:
- Good highlight retention, even in hard backlit scenes
- Almost noise-free images in all lighting conditions, even in low light
- Good detail when zooming
- Precise autofocus
- Good exposure and fairly wide dynamic range
- Correct white balance and beautiful colors in most situations
- Effective stabilization for static video and walking while recording
It’s not so good about the camera:
- Often noticeable shutter lag
- Limited depth of field results in some subjects being out of focus in group portraits
- Occasional color inaccuracies, especially in low light conditions
- Slightly softer texture under all test conditions
- Local noise in some indoor and low light conditions
- Occasional slow focus transitions in video
- Sharpness differences between video images
