Xiaomi is making improvements in some areas to better compete with high-priced Android brands.
Xiaomi may have revamped a page about system updates and now seems to provide more specific information about update times for its own Android smartphones. This means that buyers and consumers of cheap Android smartphones now know exactly when they can expect the update.
And what Xiaomi offers today in terms of update times is sometimes not bad. The Redmi Note 13, released in spring 2024, will receive the update by January 15, 2028. It is the same with the remaining models of the device series. The slightly new POCO F6 will receive updates till May 2028. Also exactly four years.
Xiaomi: 4 years of updates for mid-range, 5 years for flagship smartphones
Xiaomi still does not guarantee updates like other manufacturers, especially in the mid-range, x new Android versions are not guaranteed for the next few years or something like that but providing more specific information about the update period is a right step.
We can see four years for the mid-range and five years for the flagship model. Many cheap Android devices, such as the Redmi A3, have a three-year lifespan.
Xiaomi doesn’t go the way of other manufacturers. For example, it is impossible to know whether there are security updates every month or every quarter. How many MIUI updates or new Android versions are included in this update period? Also not specified.
If you want to check the EOL date for your own Xiaomi device, You can do it now here. Global models and information are clearly listed there.
That’s not the only good news from Xiaomi these days:
