  • Samsung and The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon are running a contest to win a Galaxy S21 Ultra.
  • You have to create a film 60 seconds or shorter and share it on social media with the right hashtags.
  • You have until February 1 to complete the first round and win a phone.

If you fancy yourself a budding mobile cinematographer, now’s your chance to win a free Galaxy S21 Ultra — provided you’re willing to put in some work.

As SamMobile reports, Samsung and The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon are running a contest that will award free Galaxy S21 Ultra phones to 10 finalists who create a 60-seconds-or-less short film centered around the theme of “A Different Focus.” The project can be silly or sad and cover virtually any subject. You just have to post it to Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, or Twitter using the hashtags #TonightShowFilmFest and #Contest.

You have until February 1 at 11:59PM Eastern to post your video, and the contest is only open to US permanent residents. If you’re fortunate enough to make it past this first round, you’ll have until February 18 to shoot another short film using the free Galaxy S21 Ultra. Judges will choose the final winner on March 7, and they’ll have their project featured in the inaugural Tonight Show Film Festival running between March 8 and March 12.

This isn’t the first time Fallon and Samsung have partnered together. The Tonight Show shot a full episode using the Galaxy S10 Plus in March 2019, and Fallon’s crew teamed with Samsung in 2020 to deliver the Galaxy S20 Ultra and other Mother’s Day gifts to front line workers early in the COVID-19 pandemic.

Yes, the free phones are ultimately a marketing ploy to promote the Galaxy S21 Ultra and its camera features.  This still gives you an opportunity to flex your moviemaking skills, and it’s hard to deny the appeal of getting a top-tier smartphone while indulging your creative impulses.
