SWIT has just announced the launch of the SWIT Pocket PB-M45S V-Mount battery. This 45Wh model expands their line of pocket-sized V-Mounts, which previously included only a 98Wh model. Both batteries offer one D-Tap output & charging input, as well as one USB 5V/2A output. Let’s take a closer look at these!
Compact V-Mount batteries seem to be a new trend lately. Indeed, cameras are getting smaller and smaller, so it doesn’t make sense to stick a big battery pack behind your camera anymore when you can benefit from much smaller powering solutions.
We recently covered the solutions from CAME-TV or the Mini PAGLink batteries, for example. SWIT is joining the party with the launch of their latest 45Wh SWIT Pocket V-Mount battery.
SWIT Pocket V-Mount Batteries – Features
The SWIT Pocket V-Mount batteries are the company’s latest lineup of batteries. Two different models are available: the new SWIT PB-M45S with a 45Wh/3.1Ah capacity and the existing SWIT PB-M98S with a 98Wh/6.8Ah capacity.
The 45Wh model is fairly compact with dimensions of only 100×74×34mm for a weight of 310g. The 98Wh version is slightly thicker at 100×74×48mm for a weight of 510g. However, both SWIT Pocket V-Mount batteries have a lot of similarities, including:
- One D-Tap output port, with a 100W/8A load DC output. This port also doubles up as a 3A charging port if you use a D-Tap charger.
- One 5V/2A USB output port.
- A 5-step LED power indicator. Both batteries can give power info to Sony & RED cameras.
- A wire-free internal technic, which means that all the cells, D-Tap, USB, power indicator devices are directly soldered onto a PCB, with no connecting wires. It is made to “reduce internal resistance effectively, and make the circuit stable, safe, and reliable,” according to the company.
Price and Availability
The SWIT Pocket V-Mount batteries are available now. The PB-M45S retails for $190.00/€199, while the PB-M98S is $260.00/€252.
In direct comparison, the CAME-TV Mini 99 battery is $145.00 and gives you two D-Tap outputs, one USB output port, a 5-level gauge indicator.
