- HMD Global is hosting a Nokia launch event next week.
- While it’s not clear which devices will be announced, the invite hints at a “new chapter for Nokia phones.”
HMD Global is hosting yet another event next week that could see the unveiling of a gaggle of new Nokia smartphones.
The company confirmed the virtual launch event in an emailed invite to Android Authority. It also hinted at the revelation of a “new chapter for Nokia phones with a very special guest.”
Little about the actual devices were teased, but judging by HMD’s wording here we wouldn’t rule out the “special guest” being a proper flagship reveal (and not Daniel Craig).
The Nokia 9 PureView was arguably the firm’s last genuine range-topper, and although it packed remarkably inventive camera hardware, it was let down by poor usability and crummy battery life. Priced at €599 (~$711), the Nokia 8.3 5G made its bow at the top of the pecking order as the brand’s first 5G smartphone, but a sequel to the PureView has been rumored for months.
HMD Global does tend to launch multiple Nokia devices at varying price points, so expect mid-range and budget devices to star in supporting roles. The rumored Nokia 7.3 – which was reportedly spotted on the set of No Time To Die – could also officially break cover.
The Nokia event is penned for September 22, beginning at 4 PM BST (11 AM ET) and will be broadcast from its YouTube channel.
