The Xenoblade Chronicles games are extensive. It seems like every title goes to great lengths to offer bigger maps than previous Monolith Soft works, and that’s the case with the latest installment. But how big? Xenoblade Chronicles 3? Bueno, The developers finally offer a rather surprising answer.
Recently Tetsuya Takahashi, Senior Director and Creative Director at Monolith Soft, Koh Kojima, Producer and Director, Xenoblade Chronicles 3And Genki Yokota, the game’s producer and director, was interviewed by Nintendo, where they revealed that the areas that are walkable in this new installment, They are five times larger than the second title. Takahashi noted about it:
“Even though we say ‘a lot of content’, it covers a lot, and I’d say the volume of content created in the Xenoblade Chronicles series is ‘idea content’. We examined the content to find out what volumes are considered essential for RPGs that can easily be passed on to our players. For example, let’s say we focused on detailing a map and a character and created many variations or context-specific animations. I think players will enjoy it that way, but will eventually stop noticing it after 30 minutes of game play. We always think if there are other ways to achieve more satisfaction for players and after exploring and coming up with many ideas, we finally decided on the right amount of content.”
For his part, Kojima commented:
“Come to think of it, we were talking about this in the office yesterday. The world will go crazy for this title. So I did the math and it turns out that the total walkable area in this game is five times larger than the second title. It was…aha!”
No doubt Xenoblade Chronicles 3 It’s a fairly expansive game, with a heavy emphasis on exploration, and to let players pick the rhythm of their adventure. Besides, there are endless opportunities to enjoy all the additional content available.
Xenoblade Chronicles 3 It will arrive on Nintendo Switch on July 29, 2022. On a related topic, you can check out our review of the game here. Likewise, this installment is the “finale” of the series.
Editor’s note:
A giant map is something to be expected from open world games today. However, the difficult thing is to incentivize the public enough to give this virtual space a chance, which is what Xenoblade Chronicles 3 has achieved.
