The Lost Demo of Mario Kart XXL is now available Atomics

Over the years, there have been multiple games submitted to companies like Nintendo, which at the end of the day didn’t come to fruition. Usually, these projects disappear, but occasionally we see that these tech demos just refuse to die and fans go to great lengths to make them accessible to the general public. This is the case with Mario Kart XXL for the Game Boy Advance, which you can already play, or at least part of the idea. Originally submitted to Nintendo in 2004, Mario Kart XXL is a racing game developed by Daenerys Entertainment Software, German developers. However, and as you already know, the idea never took off, but the public didn’t know about it until 2015, when a tech demo was leaked on YouTube. Since then, fans who are interested have tried their best to get their hands on this piece of software and it finally happened a few days ago. Recently, a user known as Forest of Illusions found a copy of the cartridge and shared it on his site for anyone interested. However, do not expect anything remarkable, since we are presented with only two fairly simple modes, where it is impossible to compete against other racers. Editor’s Note: Considering we already have a Mario Kart for the GBA, Nintendo probably didn’t see the point of putting another game in the series on the same platform. However, it’s nice to see that content like this is still being preserved, even when its original developers didn’t intend it to be.
