The laptop market has grown significantly in recent years. Consoles like the Switch and Steam Deck have shown that this market still has a lot to offer us. Thus, A new rumor suggests that Sony is already working on a new PlayStation Portable, or PSP.
Anton Logvinov, Russian journalist and one of the first to confirm that PlayStation games will be available on PC, has hinted that a new PSP is already in development. however, The catalog of games available only includes PlayStation Experience 4, including titles that we already found on Steam, as well as on Steam Deck. Here’s what he said about it:
However, I can confirm that Sony is preparing a new PSP for launch, but gosh, the launch lineup only has PS4 games, which are usually available on PC and therefore Steam Deck. Chain stores, however, are quite skeptical.”
For now, Sony is silent on the matter. However, this should not come as a big surprise. Thanks to the rise of portable PCs, as well as switches, in recent years, Rumors have indicated that both Sony and Microsoft are working on new consoles for this market.
However, if the logvinv information is correct, It looks like Sony’s offering doesn’t look as attractive as many expected. This report reveals a problem that many have not considered, and that is that a PlayStation and Xbox laptop are not necessary. Given that Game Pass and multiple Sony first-party games are already available on PC, there’s not much incentive to buy something like a new PSP, since a Steam Deck or ROG Alley already offers that kind of experience.
Considering there is no official information at the moment, We can only wait for Sony to confirm or deny the existence of a new PSP. On a related note, the gold PSP now has a new owner. Similarly, they hacked a PlayStation portal to run PSP games.
Author’s Note:
There’s really no big incentive to own a PSP, outside of playing titles that may not come to PC for a while, but will eventually be available on this platform. A Steam Deck and ROG Alley are more than enough.
