Beating the Core i9-12900KS!
AMD gives a first look at the overclocking potential of the upcoming Ryzen 7000 processor. Even before the market launch, Ryzen 9 7950X was able to collect the first record and, despite the 20 percent overclock, was “only” with AiO water cooling. This means: with LN2 cooling and even higher clocks, there is still room for improvement.
The new CPU generation from AMD was officially unveiled on August 30th and is scheduled to be available on September 27th. You can expect 13 percent higher performance per clock (IPC) than the Ryzen 5000 and more performance overall through increased clock rates. As for the top model Up to 5.7 GHz is possible With some luck the CPU can boost even more.
AMD has now announced in a press release, that AMD’s own XOC team has overclocked the Ryzen 9 7950X before its market launch, breaking some records (with 16 cores). The processor was doing around About 20% overclocked (5.4 – 5.5 GHz all-core) And equipped with a 280 mm AiO water cooling system.
Results (with HWBOT entry link):
- 40,498 points on Cinebench R23 nT – Ryzen 9 7950X @ 5,4 GHz All-Core, Asrock X670E Taichi, 32 GB Kingston DDR5
- 15,771 points on Cinebench R20 nT – Ryzen 9 7950X @ 5,35 GHz All-Core, Gigabyte X670E Aras Master, 32 GB G.Skill DDR5
- 6,900 points on Cinebench R15 nT – Ryzen 9 7950X @ 5,5 GHz All-Core, ASUS ROG Crosshair X670E Hero, 16 GB G.Skill DDR5
- 228.992 MIPS on 7-zip – Ryzen 9 7950X @ 5,45 GHz All-Core, MSI MEG X670E Ace, 32 GB Corsair DDR5
The 7950X thus outperforms the previous King Core i9-12900KS (incl 40.0412 points), which, however, had to be clocked at 7.0 GHz and cooled with nitrogen (LN2). Interestingly, however, HWBOT already shows higher results, with the Ryzen 9 7950X clocked at 6.45 GHz. Even up to 48,235 points comes
It seems that the upcoming AMD top model is likely to offer some OC. According to AMD, however, it should only do so “A Preview of Overclocking Performance” to remain Results for LN2 cooling and even higher clock speeds will be released “soon”. It is quite possible that already Published on HWBOT Results are interpreted.
Already crazy what kind of sphere we have reached so far? So, 6.5 GHz on all 16 cores – not bad. Let’s wonder how the first test reports of Ryzen 7000 and AMD Ryzen 9 7950X turn out.
