Xiaomi has brought new Android smartphones to Europe and they’re not bad. But anyone who knows the original from China will be seriously disappointed. Xiaomi hasn’t brought us much innovation in its new Redmi Note 14 series. Especially the top model has virtually no innovation, but costs the same as last year.
Last year was still great fun. Xiaomi launched the Redmi Note 14 series and really knocked it out of the park. All models have seen improvements, but the Redmi Note 14 Pro+ brings the most significant innovation. It costs 499 euros, so you can expect something.
Now Xiaomi is bringing the new generation to Europe, just without the improvements. An old 200MP sensor is still used for the main camera and not the new 50MP “Light Hunter 800”. Xiaomi also integrates a very cheap 2MP macro camera, with a 50MP telephoto lens for real zoom in China.
We see another difficulty when we look at memory. While China has a minimum of 12GB of RAM, the lower limit in Europe is only 8GB of RAM. But the biggest disappointment is the battery. Xiaomi has integrated a completely new battery in the Chinese model and relies on an incredible 6,200 mAh. Here in Europe it remains at 5,100 mAh and older battery technology.
There are hardly any changes in the Redmi Note 14 Pro+ compared to the Redmi Note 13 Pro+, but the price is still the same. This will increase the profit considerably and the customer will be cheated. The only notable change is the Qualcomm chip; They still used MediaTek.
There are also big differences between other models. In the Redmi Note 14 Pro, the global model’s battery is 400 mAh smaller – that’s about 10 percent. There are also differences in the main camera; The Chinese model’s 50 MP image sensor should trigger faster (less shutter lag) and therefore have fewer problems in low light.
