In the first big blind test of the camera, the latest Google flagship completely blows away the competition.
There are several methods for evaluating smartphone cameras. On the one hand, there are professionals who pay attention to details that even ordinary users may not notice. And there are technical details that can be rated as good or bad. Last but not least, there is taste, which plays an important role.
If you ask me, Google and more recently, Xiaomi have definitely catered to my taste. I really like the look of the Pixel photos so far and the company managed to do something positive again with the Pixel 8 smartphone. This seems to be the impression of many other users.
The folks at PhoneArena, who got a lot of clicks, recently uploaded a blind test. So we had to evaluate the photo without knowing which device it came from. Pixel devices usually handle such tests very well, and it did this time too. The Pixel 8 Pro didn’t give the others a chance.
Samsung has a lot going for it
In Photo of the Day, the Pixel 8 Pro won a total of 12 rounds, the iPhone 15 Pro Max won twice and the Galaxy S23 Ultra not once. It’s also interesting that the Pixel 8 Pro only came in second place twice and never in third place. So the two lower ranks are almost exclusively shared by iPhone and Galaxy.
I also see that the Pixel 8 Pro often gets the most votes and the results are rarely close. Also an interesting fact, which produced this blind test Yes, Google is now collecting a lot of real user data so that it can improve the camera with the next update.
For me, the biggest win is definitely the new 50 MP ultra-wide-angle camera, as there is significantly more and higher-quality detail throughout the recording.
