In the current source code of various Google apps, you can already find information about the new smartphone, including the first details about the camera of the 2023 Pixel 8. A well-known developer recently found out that the Pixel 8 might have some new functions.
The new function indicates changes to the camera sensor
Both the upcoming Pixel 8 smartphones are said to feature staggered HDR. Since the current camera sensor of the Pixel 7 series cannot do this, one can expect another upgrade in the hardware of the Pixel 8 smartphone. It may be somewhat new then Samsung GN2 sensor (also 50 MP) installed, the GN1 sensor is currently on the Pixel 7 cell phone. So it will not be a significant change.
The new feature makes it possible to record different exposures for the same pixel at the same time. Unlike conventional HDR, this is possible with significantly lower latency.
Cuba WO was also able to confirm that Google is once again relying on the Pro designation. Plus, Ultra or not, the best smartphone of 2023 will probably be called the Pixel 8 Pro.
With the Pixel 6, Google has replaced the main camera sensor for the first time. From an older 12MP sensor to the Pixel 5, there’s been a switch from Samsung to the GN1 sensor, which is no longer part of the latest generation. Now they will bring the upgrade again after two years, it’s a good time.
