Before the first Android phones were actually available, Google had a variety of ideas. The iPhone at the time didn’t really have a clue. It was very much a mix of touchscreen and BlackBerry design. One of Android’s co-founders today shows us what an original design looked like.
The base HTC Dream, also known as the G1 and sold as such, looked significantly different five months before the first iPhone launched. Google had in mind a very attractive color scheme and should have more buttons.
As is clear today, the first Android phone looked a little different. Google relied on the trackball, the design was originally much more straightforward and not colorful at all.
