With July 1, players can enter a new era of Formula 1 in the official video game EA Sports F1 22 at the 2022 FIA Formula One World Championships. Featuring stunning new sports cars, the F1 22 delivers a new handling model that recreates the intense wheel-to-wheel racing at the edge of our seats in the 2022 Formula 1 season.

Players can also test their driving skills in the iconic Florida Palm Tree at the 19 challenging corners of the vibrant new Miami International Autodrome, and the F1 Sprint may be flat out as soon as it enters the game for the first time. The new race options give players more control over their virtual race day, with the opportunity to choose between immersion and broadcast-style formation laps, safety car periods, and pit stops. Get a taste of Formula 1’s glitz and glamor at F1 Life, a new place to unlock and showcase supercars, costumes, accessories and more for the world to see.

The major innovations regarding the PS5 controller are the haptic response and the adaptive trigger in the F1 22. Learn more about some of the PS5 features below

Heptic response

Through the use of the Haptix of the PS5 Dualsense controller, the sensation of both collision and surface has been greatly improved. This gives the individual parts of the surface debris the ability to communicate and create a much more immersive experience to represent the vehicle on a specific part of the track. Most notably, the sensation can be localized to the left or right. A great example of this is when the left wheels of a player’s car are driven aggressively on a carb, the reaction is felt exclusively through the left side of the controller, which adds realism.

Dualsense controller speakers

With the PS5 DualSense controller speaker, players can listen to their race engineer speak through a session, provide important information, and track data on their way to the pole position or on the all-important podium. Listen to important HUD information through the controller speakers, keeping your main audio mix clear and uncluttered, the way racing should sound.

Adaptive trigger

For the PS5, adaptive triggers are used by directly attaching the amount of resistance to the tire’s slip ratio. This means that when your car is ‘locked up’ under braking, the amount of resistance through the brake trigger increases, creating a more immersive connection to the car. Similarly, the resistance of the accelerator trigger increases when wheelspin occurs. A subtle difference in the restraint resistance of the accelerator and brake triggers has also been applied to simulate the pressure difference required to fully suppress the brakes versus the accelerator pedals in a real life F1 vehicle.

See you out on the track!
