Ring for video doorbells has quickly become a major brand in the smart home space. The standard doorbell version has four iterations with one pro model. Yet with all the upgrades and different models, there comes a time when it, like any other electronic device, can be a problem. Unfortunately, sometimes a factory reset is the only way to fix that problem.
Factory reset your ring video doorbell will delete all its data and settings completely as if you took it out of the box. A reset solves most problems and should be done before the doorbell is sold or offered. If you provide it, be sure to remove the doorbell from the ring app.
There is little difference in how you reset the doorbell depending on which model you have. First and second generation doorbells have a slightly different approach than the rest. The current Video Doorbell roster includes Ring Video Doorbell 2/3/3 Plus / 4, Wired, Pro / Pro2 and Elite. We will explain each below. Let’s get it.
How to reset ring video doorbell
Step 1: Undo the safety screw to remove the doorbell from the bracket or the faceplate from the doorbell.
First and second generation doorbells need to be removed from their brackets after the screws are removed. For recent and current video doorbells, you will remove the faceplate after removing the screw.
Step 2: Search Setup Press the button and hold for 10 seconds.
In most doorbells, the setup button will be bright orange. For the current crop of video doorbells, the setup button is just below the camera lens.
Step 3: The doorbell light will flash for a few seconds or minutes. When the flashing stops, the doorbell is reset and returns to setup mode.
