Sharks have many simple cordless vacuums designed with rechargeable batteries, including ion lines of slim stick vacuums and robot vacuums. Many robots have the ability to automatically return to their charging station when needed.
While you can expect rechargeable batteries to lose some juice over time, if your Shark Rovac or similar vacuum is relatively new, not only is it not charging, there are definitely some mistakes. Following these steps can help you find the problem and fix it quickly
Why isn’t my shark being vacuum charged?
Charging problems, especially with a new shark vacuum, are usually due to location or power problems. Fortunately, these are not permanent problems. There are often simple solutions to trying out what you need to know – and we’re here to help!
What would you do if your shark robot didn’t have a vacuum charge?
Step 1: Check your on / off switch.
Shark robot vacuums have a manual on / off switch located on top of the Rovac. If you do not want to use the battery or do not plan to schedule a vacuum session for a few days, turning off the bot can help you save power. However, sometimes this switch flips to the off position when the robot pushes on the furniture. Users find the robot unresponsive and try to keep the bot on the charger to give the battery a boost, but when the robot vacuum is off, it will not always be charged.
Check the manual switch and make sure it is on. Sometimes, this simple solution is what you need.

Step 2: Check if you need to manually place the vac.
You should have a blue LED indicator light on top of the Shark Robot VAC unit to show battery power. As long as at least one of these indicator lights is on, your bot may have enough battery life to automatically return to the charger. If all the lights in the vacuum are off, the battery is probably too empty for fuel to return to the dock. In this case, your vacuum needs a little help: take it back to the dock and place it in a place where it starts to charge.
This is also good advice for using your robot vacuum for the first time: it usually needs to be docked before it is ready to work.
Step 3: Clear all charging contacts.
The shark vacuum must have two metal contact points so that the charging dock can be fitted opposite two metal plates. When these two pieces communicate properly, the battery can charge. However, sometimes contacts cannot connect. Clear the contacts of both bot and charging dock to see if this solves the problem The battery indicator light in your vacuum will start flashing when the robot is charged, an easy way to see if it is working.

Step 4: Check the dock for strength and correct operation.
Although not common, something happened to prevent the charging dock from working properly. When the dock is turned on and ready to charge, there should be a green light next to it. If you do not have a dock, make sure it is plugged in and try another outlet to see if it can get power elsewhere.
Your dock should always be kept in a safe place. It should have three feet on each side and five feet on the front. If there is not enough space, Rovac will not be able to bring it back properly.
Step 5: Inspect and replace batteries.
If nothing else works, then it’s time to open the battery case and take a look Sometimes the battery may get dirty or the shark robot may move away from its contacts inside the vacuum. Cleaning and re-installing it can solve your problem. But if it is an old battery or there are obvious signs of damage, you should Order a replacement battery Which matches your model.
If none of these troubleshooting tips work, it may be time for a new model. Check out our list of the best shark vacuums to see which model might be right for you.
