The latest ring video doorbells offer a great pair of motion sensors with audio and visual communication and a variety of battery options for multiple placements. Sometimes they need a complete reset. The ring comes with a basic reset option to keep the doorbells in setup mode, which you need to know when setting up the doorbell first, as well as if you want to do a complete factory reset later. Here’s what you need to know.
How to reset ring doorbell
Each ring doorbell line works a little differently, so it’s important to find your model first. Although they are a little different in shape, they look the same, so it can be difficult to tell at a glance. Instead, find product number information on the back of the doorbell or log in to your Ring app to see which model the doorbell is listed as.
Find the setup mode button
Now that you know what kind of ring doorbell you have, it’s time to identify Setup mode Button, which can also be used to reset the device completely. Before you do this, it’s a good idea to make sure the ring doorbell’s battery for front work (some models have wired mode, but most offer battery options) is fully charged. Now, identify the button based on your model:
Ring Video Doorbell (Standard Edition, 1st and 2nd Generation): Flip the doorbell and see an orange button on the back of the device.
Ring video doorbell 2 model: Look at the small black button on the front of the doorbell.
Ring video doorbell 3/3 plus and 4 models: See a small black button in front of the doorbell.
Ring video doorbell pro and wired model: Take a look at the right side of Doorbell Pro. You will see a small button there that you can press.
Ring video doorbell elite model: First remove the faceplate from the elite front. Then find a small black button on the top-right part of the doorbell facing the front.
Reset using the setup mode button
Now that you’ve found it Setup mode Button, when resetting it. Press and release the button – don’t hold it. When you enter the ring setup mode you will know because the front light will start to turn.
When the lights start to turn on, you’ll be able to go back to your app and start working to connect your mobile device to the doorbell and continue the setup process.
Set up the ring video doorbell again
If you reset the ring doorbell to fix product issues or connection issues, you will need to set it up again now. To get started, press Setup mode Button once and release it immediately – you don’t want to think you’re trying to reset the doorbell again.
The doorbell will now enter setup mode, where it creates a small Wi-Fi hotspot. When this happens, the light in front of it will start to turn.
