(Pocket-Lint) – We like our Spotify playlists, whether they’re driving, doing housework, hitting the gym or chilling out after a long day, they’re great companions.

Sometimes, though, there is a serious motion discrepancy and Dust in the air Doesn’t really inspire us to hit a new personal best.

Well, it turns out that picking a playlist by BPM is actually quite easy – you can also filter songs that are above or below a certain BPM. This is a great tool in your hand, which makes perfect vibe curation as easy as a few clicks.

Here’s how:

How to pick a Spotify playlist by BPM

Create a playlist

To get started, you will need a playlist to sort first This could be something you’ve already created or brand new, in both cases, our results will be output as an additional playlist at the end.

We’ve got a huge mess of a playlist called ‘Good stuff that I stumbled upon’ – and as you can guess, it serves as a dumping ground for our favorite songs, across different genres, moods and speeds. This is the perfect type of playlist to filter by BPM, which allows us to create a faster version, a slower version or even one that changes slowly as the playlist moves.

For this example, we will create a fun playlist that is great to work with. So we want more than 100 beats per minute.

Go to the Arrange Your Music page

Unfortunately, this functionality has not yet been built into the original Spotify app, so we need to visit an external website to pick one up. Head over Sort your music website.

Then, log in with your Spotify account by clicking on the ‘Login with Spotify’ button.

You will then see a list of playlists you have created and saved, and you can choose what you want to sort.

Pick your playlist

Now you’ll be able to see all the songs in your selected playlist, and you have more options than usual to sort them. These additional options include energy, which refers to how energetic, danceable, how easy it is to dance, and valence, which indicates how happy or sad a song is. Useful thing!

Of course, we’re here for BPM, and easily we have two boxes at the top of the page that allow us to set the minimum and maximum BPM. We chose 100 as our minimum BPM and 200 as our maximum, as well as double BPM tick-free.

We also decided to order the playlist by reducing the choreography, because static beats should be a good workout companion and we have no way to finish this huge playlist in one session.

Once you’re happy, click ‘Save as new playlist’ in the top right corner.

Return to Spotify

In your Spotify app, as if by magic, you will see your newly created playlist. It will be automatically renamed something like ‘X reduces playlist X selected’ but you can rename it as you wish, as well as delete any tracks you don’t want.

And there you have it, it may not be as seamless as right-clicking on a playlist, but it’s really a simple tool and we think it’s definitely worth the extra step.
