There is Instagram Some new features have been added To help users celebrate Lunar New Year with new, themed stickers and a custom AR effect.
As you can see here, the new stickers commemorate the Year of the Tiger by Hong Kong-based art Ophelia Pang. Stickers provide an easy way to mark the event that will be celebrated From 31st January to 15th February.
Also, an add-on has been added to Instagram # MyLNY2022 The AR effect, which provides another way to get involved with the celebration.
The app actually has a range of Lunar New Year effects, which you can find using the search option at the end of the effect carousel.
Instagram last year unveiled a similar set of Lunar New Year tools, part of its broader focus on maximum engagement in the vicinity of cultural events.
As explained by the head of Instagram Adam Moseri:
“When it comes to celebrating cultural moments, we want to be a platform where creators showcase their work.“
Demonstrating creativity is where Instagram increasingly seeks to align itself, as it works to differentiate the app from TikTok, which is based on community expression and meme-based sharing. If Instagram could focus more on creative output, in particular, it could be a way to lean towards the growing Web 3 movement, where theoretically, creators could be better rewarded and celebrated for their work.
These Lunar New Year tools showcase some creator art, but the broader view for Instagram is that it could similarly be better positioned to provide a platform for more artists, which could help it regain its momentum in the face of tickling. The challenge
