Brands will soon have more options for posting Instagram reels to their accounts and conducting related activity, Meta announces that it Launching its Reels API for external use.
API access enables platforms like Hootsuite and Sprout Social to provide cross-platform posting and analytics capabilities within a single dashboard, making it even easier to keep track of your various social posts and schedules in one place.
And soon, Instagram reels will also be available as an alternative to these tools.
Explained by Meta:
“Tomorrow, June 28th, 2022, we will start introducing reels at several end points of the Instagram platform. We always want to improve our content publishing and usage experience, whether people use Instagram locally or through third parties. After hearing consistently from our developer community that Reels is a top priority, we’re excited to introduce Reels to many of the edges you may already be familiar with. “
The new API Reels element will support content scheduling, insights, moderation, hashtag search and more.
Reels is a top priority for Meta, as shown with the data Reel makes content now More than 20% of the time people spend on InstagramWhile 45% of Instagram accounts now interact with Reel at least once a week.
It also makes it a top priority for brands, and the added ability to manage your reel content across your larger social media management tools will make it easier to add reels to your social content mix.
There is no official word on when these new processes will be available in each app, however Instagram says the rollout of the new Reels API will begin with 25% of Instagram user accounts, before it becomes fully accessible by July 6th.
