Ahead of today’s Nintendo Direct, Shigeru Miyamoto shared. Sudden updates on social media about new The Super Mario Bros.-FilmReveals the launch date for Japan and shares some information about the project.
First, it is now confirmed that this new film will be released in Japan 24. April 2026Western release this same month. As for the project, Miyamoto says he’s working with lighting to make sure it’s another “fun movie” that hopefully everyone will look forward to.
So all in all, this is good news, and it at least confirms that the film’s release date is still in April 2026.
This latest update follows the initial announcement during this year’s “MAR10 Day” celebration, which confirmed that the anime sequel will be released here in the West. 3. April 2026. Illumination’s Chris Meledandrio revealed that the original team that worked on the first film will return. When the original film was released in theaters, it managed to break all kinds of records for video game films – surpassing the billion dollar mark at the worldwide box office.
