Samsung may develop new smartphone chips
Like the South Korean media elec Samsung has formed a new processor development team within the smartphone division. It is headed by former Qualcomm employee Choi Won-jun, who was recently appointed head of the entire mobile division.
MX Business is putting together its own team, which is identical, because it wants to further optimize Exynos chips for its Galaxy line or possibly develop its own processors in the future, sources say.
Google is also benefiting from Samsung’s progress
Incidentally, the progress Samsung is making in chip development doesn’t just affect Galaxy smartphones. Samsung also had a hand in the Tensor chips that Google “developed” into the current Pixel devices.
It will probably be a while before we see the chips introduced in smartphones – previous rumors have suggested an early 2025 launch.
