Samsung has been talking a lot about the upcoming OneUI 5 update to launch with Android 13. The company has not officially announced much about it yet; However, rumors about it have started to spread, so it seems that the software is in deep development, but there is still a lot of unknown.
There’s still time before the update officially goes down, but fans are scratching to find out all about it, so here’s what we know so far about Samsung’s OneUI 5 software.
Release date
One of the only things we know for sure about OneUI 5 is that it was created Android 13. Samsung always launches its latest UI updates along with major OS updates and OneUI 5 doesn’t seem to be an exception. Based on the rollout of previous AndroidOS updates, it looks like Android 13 will be out later this year, probably in August or early September. This means that OneUI will see a similarly timely release date in the second half of 5 years. If last year’s OneUi 4 had anything to release, the OneUi 5 could launch sometime around November.
Beta version
Like most widely used software, Samsung device owners will likely be offered a try in the beta version of OneUI 5. The beta version of the software is not yet officially licensed, but beta testing for OneUI 5 may begin in July, according to Close source of Sammobile. If it is, fans can certainly expect news about it soon, but compared to last year, it is a very early date.
The beta version of the OneUI 4 was launched last September, so it’s possible that the OneUI 5 beta may also be reserved for the early fall test period. So far, no official word on Samsung’s status has been received and we may have to wait until 2022 for our Samsung Developers Conference to hear more.
Features
Since we haven’t yet seen any build for the OneUI 5, there’s little to report on what features can be expected with it. Another SamMobile report Claims that UI speed is a major focus for teams working on updates. It will express itself in a number of ways, from faster animations and smoother overall UI to navigation improvements. It is important to note that SamMobile does not cite any sources for these claims, indicating that this could be a guess.
If speed navigation is one of the main focus of the OneUI 5, it could make Samsung devices feel much more responsive, thanks to a steady increase in the screen refresh rate featured in the company’s recent smartphones. OneUI 5 seems to be the safest bet that the OneUI 5 will benefit the most from the optimizations and changes that come with Android 13. Previous Samsung OneUI updates have been nicely integrated with Google’s major OS changes, so hopefully OneUI 5 will follow suit.
Of supported devices
The official list of Samsung devices that will support OneUI 5 has not been announced yet, but there are several ways to get a better idea based on other things the company says. Guessing like the recently released phones is a safe bet The Galaxy S22 series will support all OneUI 5s and previous flagship releases will also support Galaxy S21 series, Galaxy Z Flip and Galaxy Z Fold series, Galaxy Note 20 series and some recent Galaxy A series phones.
We know so much about Samsung’s OneUI 5 for now, but we’ll update here for more news.
