While Samsung’s flagship smartphones sell well, the hardware reputation could be better.
Exynos will return to Samsung’s flagship smartphones next year. The Exynos 2400 will then be installed in the Galaxy S24 and S24+, while the Galaxy S23 series only had Qualcomm chips instead of the Exynos 2023. Things may be different again in 2025.
There may be a lot of technological advancements ahead and that’s probably why Samsung sees the need for a new name. More and more sources are claiming that the Exynos series will end soon, at least as far as the well-known brand is concerned. It will be a big step after many years.
The Exynos reputation can no longer be repaired
But this isn’t the first time such a big step has been made, as Samsung launched OneUI a few years ago, ditching an equally unpopular brand called TouchWiz. At that time there was a major update that wanted to get rid of the old reputation related to the software. The Exynos series now has a reputation that you just want to get rid of.
It already seems certain that the Exynos brand will be canceled soon. But this time, a new name is coming for the first time pop up. Samsung is said to be switching to “Dream”. This is quite fitting in the context of the AI revolution, as the smartphone chips of the future could, metaphorically, make our dreams for artificial intelligence come true.
However, Samsung should also overcome the technical difficulties of its own chipsets. Too little power, too much heat and poor efficiency – these three points will eventually be left behind. In any case, it works well if you establish the new name at the same time and thus celebrate a big new beginning.
In any case, some changes are expected in the next few years. Google should also move away from Exynos and work with TSMC instead of Samsung, starting with the Tensor G5.
