We are thrilled to announce that our Italian WW1 FPS Isonjo There’s a release date, and you can now wishlist it on Xbox! The battle for the Alps will begin on May 31, 2022. To celebrate the news, we have a trailer to show off a new map!
The battle for Italy during World War I was very different from fighting anywhere else. The most obvious difference is that you will fight with landscapes. While there are trenches and barbed wire fences as you would expect, instead of muddy fields and shell holes, there are stunning mountain views around you, as you can see in the trailer.
Highlight one Isonjo Maps based on specific attacks and locations from history – in Isonjo We aim to recreate the situations and challenges that the troops faced. The city of San Martino del Carso is an example – it is an important part of the San Michele map of Monte, one of the three maps that included the Sixth War of the Isonzo offensive. We’ve done a lot of research, including geographic data, trench maps, and original landmarks, to create a realistic foundation, and then to create gameplay elements to match the historical data. In addition to the San Martino del Carso, there are entrances to the Schবুnberg Tunnel, the “Dolin” (sinkhole in the landscape) camp and the rocky trenches on the Carso Plateau. The trailer map is based on the battle for “Sasso de Cesto” in August 1915 – this “small” mountain has an elevation of 2,539 meters (8330 feet) above sea level! By comparison, the highest trench dug during the war was an incredible 3,850 meters (12,630 feet) near the top of Mount Artlar.
We’ve worked hard to capture the feeling of this epic battlefield, but also the gameplay. One of the classes you can choose from is mountaineering, since each group fighting in the Alps had some dedicated mountain soldiers. The climber is able to focus on mobility and support, identify enemies and deliver artillery targets with his flare gun, enhances the accuracy of player crude mortars and is able to quickly navigate the battlefield while climbing and running. Other categories include officers to lead the attack and firefighters to support the target (ranging from artillery and gas to biplane rifles), assault troops with grenades and sometimes light machine guns, snipers, frontline riflemen, but also engineers. They are skilled destroyers, but in between Isonjo It’s not just about destruction …
Construction at high altitudes

During WW1, soldiers spent a lot of time building defenses – in addition to the well-known trenches, barbed wire and sandbags were often an essential part of any safe haven. Now players can place their own strong points under the wire and with sandbags! The interface is simple, where you choose what you want to create and you will see a ghost of the item in front of you. Once you are happy with the location, accept and then start building. Try not to shoot in the process!

Inside Isonjo We wanted to reflect on how prevalent such defenses were during WW1, especially barbed wire, and that defenses made it possible to completely block enemy advance and force them to fight without just being able to move around. Historically the Italian army had a difficult time fighting through the wire, and Isonjo We aim to capture that kind of desperate fight because you cut the wire line and try to protect or force the reinforcement engineers. Sometimes a whole battle player can come down a roll of barbed wire!
Engineers don’t have all the building fun – there are several class facilities that allow them to place supply crates for ammunition or grenades and create mountaineering trench periscope, which anyone can use to detect enemies from safety. And don’t forget that construction isn’t just for defenders – it’s the same option for invading troops. All in all, among the construction options Isonjo Create much more dynamic battlefields and give players more options.
