We have confirmed with Sony that the update was intended to address IAF, although it was activated; Whether by assigning a button to the function or by using ‘Face / I Priority in AF’ automatically. ‘
Examining the camera with multiple subjects and several lenses, we found that the AF function of the eye could still focus the lens instead of the subject pupil. This is something you will only see when shooting at a fairly wide aperture but we still find that we can get better results with manual focus.
We’ve included these results in our review but haven’t found enough improvements to correct our scoring.
