Sony has introduced three new APS-C lenses for e-mount cameras. The new lenses E 10-20mm f / 4 PZ G, E 15mm f / 1.4 GAnd Ultra-Wide Prime E 11mm f / 1.8.
These lenses clearly indicate that the new Sony APS-C mirrorless hybrid will be released. It is interesting to see the resurgence of A`PS-C and Super 35 after the big industry pushed towards higher resolution and larger sensors.
E 10-20mm f / 4 PZ G lens
The E 10-20mm f / 4 PZ G lens is claimed to be the world’s smallest and lightest, ultra-wide angle, stable F4 APS-C power zoom lens. The lens maintains a constant length across the zoom range and seems to be a decent wide-angle solution for video shooters.
Key features
- E-mount lens / APS-C format
- 15-30mm (equivalent to 35mm)
- Aperture range: f / 4 to f / 22
- Power zoom mechanism; Internal zoom
- Dual linear AF motor; Internal focus
- Pressed focus breathing
- ED and aspherical elements
- Dust- and moisture-resistant design
- Round 7-blade diaphragm
Three aspherical elements are ideally positioned to help suppress field curvature and vision, both of which are common problems in ultra-wide-angle lenses. The optical path consists of two ED (extra-low scattering) glass components that are claimed to effectively suppress chromatic distortion. An ED aspherical component contributes to high resolution at the edges of the image.
Minimum autofocus distance is 8 ”/ 20cm, with maximum 0.14x magnification, whereas minimum manual focus distance is 5 ″ to 6.7 ″ / 13cm to 17cm with maximum 0.18x magnification.
The lens uses two linear motors for focus drive and is claimed to provide fast, quiet AF. Sony also said that the new lens focus has reduced breathing.
The E PZ 10-20mm F4 G has a new electronic power zoom system with adjustable zoom speed. The lens can be used with a Sony E-Mount camera and is compatible with a remote control.
The lens is 20% lighter than its predecessor, making it the smallest and lightest lens in its class with a total weight of just 6.3 ozs / 178g. The lens has a focus ring, zoom ring and zoom lever. There is also a customizable focus hold button and focus mode switch. Users can attach a 62mm screw-on filter, such as a variable ND filter. The lens is designed to be resistant to dust and moisture[iii] To provide additional reliability.
The E 10-20mm f / 4 PZ G lens will be available in July 750.00 USD.
E15mm F1.4g
The E15mm F1.4g A fast, lightweight wide-angle prime lens.
Key features
- E-mount lens / APS-C format
- 22.5mm (equivalent to 35mm)
- Aperture range: f / 1.4 to f / 16
- Super ED, ED, and Aspherical Elements
- Dual linear AF motor; Internal focus
- Min. Focusing distance: 6.7
- Pressed focus breathing
- Dust- and moisture-resistant design
- Physical aperture ring; D-click the switch
- Round 7-blade diaphragm
Despite the lens having a wide 15mm angle, the lens uses three aspherical components in an advanced optical design to effectively compensate for distortion and provide excellent resolution from angle to angle. Adding an ED (extra-low scattering) glass component and a Super ED glass component is said to effectively suppress chromatic distortion.
The 15mm F1.4 has a minimum focusing distance of 6.7 ″ / 17cm and a maximum magnification of 0.15x when using manual focus.
The E 15mm F1.4 G uses Sony’s latest lens technology that claims to reduce focus breathing. It also supports the respiratory compensation function provided in compatible alpha series companies.
A linear response MF (Manual Focus) ensures that the focus ring responds directly and linearly to fine control when manually focusing.
The lens weighs 7.7 oz / 219g and is only 2.6 ″ / 66.6 mm in diameter and 2.74 ″ s / 69.5 mm in length. It has an aperture ring that can be set for click step or clickless delivery depending on your needs. A focus hold button and focus mode switch are provided.
E 15mm F1.4 G is designed with dust and moisture resistance.
The E 15mm F1.4 G is expected to be available in July 748.00 USD.
And 11mm F1.8
The And 11mm F1.8 Specially designed for vlogging. It has three aspherical components and three ED (extra-low scattering) glass components. Aspherical lenses are carefully positioned to compensate for distortion and to give great resolution from angle to angle. Adding ED glass is said to further suppress color distortion and effectively reduce color fringe.
Key features
- E-mount lens / APS-C format
- 16.5 mm (equivalent to 35 mm)
- Aperture range: f / 1.8 to f / 16
- Dual linear AF motor; Internal focus
- Min. Focusing distance: 4.7
- Pressed focus breathing
- Dust- and moisture-resistant design
- Round 7-blade diaphragm
The minimum focusing distance of the lens is 4.7 ″ / 12cm and maximum 0.2x magnification. It weighs 6.4 oz / 181g and is only 2.6 ″ / 66 mm in diameter and 2.26 ″ / 57.5 mm in length.
The 11mm F1.8 has a focus hold button and a focus mode switch. An optional function selected by the user can be assigned to the Focus Hold button from the Body menu. The E11mm F1.8 also adopts front filters, a feature often missing in ultra-wide-angle lenses.
The E 11mm F1.8 will also be available for an estimated July $ 548.00 USD.
