(Pocket-Lint) – Twitter seems to be working on a new way for its users to stay on top of emerging trends and discussions, as a way to add notifications to tweets about what you can find.
Twitter is working on a feature that allows you to subscribe to search results. Once subscribed, you’ll receive push notifications for tweets about your search query! pic.twitter.com/plTlt484oN

The system appears to have been added, at least in part, to the latest version of the trial version of the Twitter app, although the notifications themselves do not appear to be active.
However, it does show us that the feature is called Search Subscribe, and theoretically it will send you notifications about the topics you are searching for if you choose to enable it in each search.
This sounds practical if you’re looking for something fairly niche, but we’re interested to know what criteria would apply if you were constantly searching for something that was being tweeted.
Signing up for notifications will be as easy as typing a new bell icon next to the search bar after typing your query, and it’s safe to assume that the app’s settings will have a section where you’ll be able to edit and delete your subscribed notifications if you see them. Tired.
The features added to the testing version of Twitter in no way guarantee that the final app will arrive, though, so it is also possible that it will never see the light of day.
