Metaverse Standards Forum, Launched jointly by technology and telecom giants yesterdayThe goal is to encourage industry-wide collaboration on the standards of interoperability required to create open metavers.
Neil Trevet, president of Cronos – one of the members of the forum – said that Metavers would combine different technologies and would require a “star of interaction standards” to do so.
“The Metavers Standards Forum is a unique place for coordination between quality organizations and industries, aimed at promoting realistic and timely standardization that would be essential for an open and inclusive metavers,” he continued.
Additional members included a number of companies, including Huawei, Qualcomm, the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) and of course the meta platform, there was a significant absence: Apple. According to a BloombergApple is working on a mixed-reality headset, which could spell future market competition with the meta platform.

The need for collaboration on Metaverse was a key theme in a speech by Meta Director of Engineering Dan Rampton at the recent Connect Expo in Denver. He explained that the delays required for these virtual experiences would require more infrastructure and advanced technology.
“The truth is that we will have a lot of developers for Metavers. There won’t just be a metaverse; It will be a collaboration across companies and experiences […] That it will happen, ”he said.
