The Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Z Flip 5 are the first Samsung phones to receive the October 2023 update. Unsurprisingly, the next phone in line is the Galaxy A54 5G, which is not just an A54, but a phone offered by Verizon in the US.
Verizon began rolling out the update earlier this week. Galaxy A54 users can identify it by firmware version A546VSQS5AWI1. The build number confirms that the October 2023 security patch contains no new One UI features, but improves security with this month’s patch.

The latest patch improves WiFi security
While Verizon didn’t detail what’s new in the October 2023 update, Samsung has already released information about this month’s security releases.
According to the official tracker, the October 2023 security patch addresses 12 vulnerabilities in Samsung’s software. A vulnerability could allow attackers to connect to a Wi-Fi network without permission and remotely execute malicious code. But don’t worry, this method requires physical access to the Galaxy device first.
However, the October patch addresses this potential attack vector and about a dozen other security issues as well as dozens of issues affecting Google’s Android operating system.
Galaxy A54 users on the Verizon network should be able to download the latest update by accessing it settings App on your phone and go “update method” And the ears are ringing “Download and Install.” Other US carriers may also release the October 2023 patch for the Galaxy A54 soon.
