The N64 library for Switch Online didn’t get off to a good start, with select games like The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time plagued by a variety of emulation issues. Nintendo released updates to the app in response and the situation has improved somewhat since then.
Unfortunately, one of the latest versions of the service seems to be in bad shape at launch. According to well-known GoldenEye 007 fans, the Switch Online emulation of Biral’s popular shooter Perfect Dark is said to have a whole series of “issues”.Grasslow00“, who lifted the lid on the previously canceled Xbox 360 title.
Obviously, there are many issues with textures, lighting, performance, frame rate, online play and even control issues like input lag, sensitivity issues and aiming:
“Maybe I’m forgetting something… but yeah, there’s no point in playing this version, it’s the worst. Better to do yourself a favor and play the PC version instead.”

Based on the history of Nintendo’s NSO service, such popular releases are usually followed up with an app update to fix any bugs and issues. The release of Perfect Dark on Switch Online also marks the release of the “mature” version of the N64 app, which you can now download from the Switch Shop.
