(Pocket-lint) – has meta Announcement It is launching an online store where its users – from Facebook, Instagram and Messenger – can buy digital clothing for their avatars. But these are not clothes of any name.
These are luxury fits from fashion houses like Prada, Balenciaga and Thom Brown. You can find everything from a hoodie to a suit in the store, meta teased. In a Facebook post, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg says more brands will be added to the store soon. “Digital products will be an important way to express yourself in Metaverse and a big driver of the creative economy,” he said.
Metaverse is something that Facebook has been pushing hard for in recent months. Zuckerberg sees this as the future of the Internet – one where AR / VR will play an important role and where people will work, play and interact in a shared virtual space. At the moment it’s all a bit hyperbolic and critics have a fair share of it.
Nevertheless, it is noteworthy that Meta has partnered with such huge brands during the launch.
